A three-member panel appointed by The Athletics Congress has not decided on its recommendation regarding suspended long jumper Larry Myricks’ application for re-instatement to competition.
Myricks, two-time indoor world champion from Upland, Calif., was suspended for life this year after testing positive three times for a banned stimulant commonly found in over-the-counter cold medicines.
The panel listened to Myricks’ case in a conference call. He said his use of the substance was inadvertent.
Curtis Stitt, the panel chairman, said a recommendation probably will be made to TAC by the end of this week.
Also, John Dowd, attorney for shotput world record-holder Randy Barnes, said he is trying to arrange a Dec. 22 hearing date for his client’s appeal of a two-year suspension.
Barnes was suspended after testing positive for an anabolic steroid at a meet last summer in Sweden.
