Rockwell, Messerschmitt Form Team: Rockwell International and the German aerospace firm Messerschmitt-Boelkow-Blohm (MBB) have agreed to form a team to bid on the joint primary aircraft training system, an Air Force and Navy aircraft training program. The team will produce two demonstrator aircraft for the program competition by 1992. Rockwell’s North American Aircraft unit will act as prime contractor and assemble the aircraft, based on an MBB design. The Air Force said it will buy about 500 aircraft starting in 1997 and the Navy wants 300 aircraft.
