The Marshall High girls’ volleyball team won what probably was the most important match in school history Saturday night at Cal State Dominguez Hills, defeating Sylmar, 15-12, 16-14, 15-1, to win the City 3-A Division championship.
It was the first City title for the top-seeded Barristers (8-5), who were eliminated by Birmingham in the semifinals last season.

Palisades (19-0) won its ninth consecutive championship. El Camino Real (14-1) was appearing in its first title match.
Marshall entered its final somewhat overconfident after beating a solid Van Nuys team in three games in the semifinals.
