1 Shot, Killed; Man Arrested

Kevin Carl Ross, 40, of San Diego was taken into custody Thursday in the slaying of his girlfriend’s estranged husband, police said.
David Gary Todd, 37, was shot once and pronounced dead less than an hour later at Mercy Hospital after apparently getting into a fight with his estranged wife and her boyfriend at his wife’s apartment in the 4300 block of Mississippi Street, police said.
Cathy Faye Todd, 36, reported to police at 4:50 a.m. that her husband was breaking into the apartment. When police officers arrived on the scene, they found David Todd shot once in the upper torso, police said.
Cathy Todd was taken to Kaiser Hospital for treatment of minor injuries. Police took Todd’s boyfriend, Ross, into custody for the slaying of David Todd.
