Larry Johnson, who passed up the NBA to remain with defending champion Nevada Las Vegas, came within one vote of being a unanimous selection to the Associated Press’ preseason college basketball All-America team.
Johnson is joined on the team by forwards Billy Owens of Syracuse and Alonzo Mourning of Georgetown and the backcourt of Kenny Anderson of Georgia Tech and Steve Smith of Michigan State.
Johnson was on 64 of the 65 ballots from the nationwide panel of sportswriters and broadcasters.
