Mater Dei Will Play Quartz Hill at OCC

Surprising Mater Dei High School won a coin toss and will play host to Quartz Hill at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Orange Coast College’s LeBard Stadium in the semifinals of the Southern Section Division I football playoffs.
Mater Dei (7-5) advanced with a 34-20 upset of top-seeded Eisenhower in the second round Friday night. Canyon will play host to Loyola at College of the Canyons on Saturday in the other semifinal game.
In Division II, Mission Viejo will play host to South Coast League rival Capistrano Valley on Friday, and El Toro will meet Paramount Saturday in a rematch of last year’s Division III title game. Both games begin at 7:30 at Mission Viejo High School. The pairings for Orange County teams:
Friday’s games
Division I: Quartz Hill (10-2) vs. Mater Dei (7-5) at Orange Coast College; Division II: Capistrano Valley (10-2) at Mission Viejo (11-1); Division III: Hart (9-3) vs. Esperanza (12-0) at Valencia High School; Division VI: Sunny Hills (9-3) at Valencia (11-1); Division IX: Valley Christian (6-5) vs. Whittier Christian (11-0) at Whittier College.
Saturday’s games
Division II: Paramount (12-0) vs. El Toro (11-1) at Mission Viejo High School; Division IV: Baldwin Park (9-2-1) vs. Santa Margarita (12-0) at Saddleback College; Division VI: Tustin (12-0) vs. Rancho Alamitos (10-2) at Bolsa Grande High School.
