THE SIDELINES : Worthy Talks With NBA Officials

Los Angeles Lakers co-captain James Worthy met with NBA officials in New York to discuss his arrest for investigation of solicitation of prostitution, a league spokesman said.
Worthy met with top NBA authorities on Monday, said spokesman Brian McIntyre. McIntyre declined to say whether the National Basketball Assn. was conducting a formal investigation.
“An important part of that meeting was to hear James’ side,” said Lakers Assistant General Manager Mitch Kupchak.
“At this point it’s not a formal investigation. But with something of this magnitude I think they want to gather as much information as possible,” Kupchak said.
Worthy pleaded innocent to two counts of solicitation of prostitution following his arrest at a Houston hotel on Nov. 15. Trial was set for Jan. 28 in Harris County Court.
