Trade Conference Flap: Washington state’s U.S. senators and one of its congressional representatives urged organizers of a current Seattle conference on Chinese trade opportunities to add programs that would address human rights issues in China. The Seattle-based Center for International Cooperation, a company that organizes conferences on international issues, is chief sponsor of the trade conference. Representatives from China and managers of some Chinese production facilities and some U.S. business executives are attending the conference, which began Wednesday and ends Saturday.
