SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic — San Francisco Giants shortstop Jose Uribe was released on bail today after being arrested in his native Dominican Republic on charges of beating two women, officials said.
Uribe was arrested Wednesday on charges of punching one Mexican and one American woman in San Cristobal City, 17 miles southeast of the capital.
“Uribe was released on bail, but cannot leave the country until the case is resolved in the courts,” said Mario Pina Garcia, a court official. Bail was $27,000.
Doctors attending the women said they should recuperate from the beatings in about 10 days.
