Bilingual ‘NewsHour’: PBS’ “The MacNeil / Lehrer NewsHour” is planning to begin broadcasting the newscast in Spanish, beginning in January. This is said to be the first time that a national newscast has been broadcast simultaneously in Spanish and English. Thirty-seven public television stations will broadcast the “NewsHour” in Spanish, reaching more than half the 22 million Latinos in the United States, according to the producers.
