COUNTYWIDE : Duck Stamp Contest Winners Total Eight

Eight county students have won awards in a statewide competition to create a stamp design in the first Federal Junior Duck Stamp Contest.
About 3,000 students entered the contest and awards were given in each of four age-group categories. Also, 60 honorable mentions were awarded.
First place winners include Laguna Beach third-grader Chelsea Mardock, 8, of El Moro Elementary School in Laguna Beach, who won the division for kindergarten through third grade. Also 9-year-old Costa Mesa resident Alexandra Smith-Ginter of Garden Hall School in Newport Beach and Jaclyn Maker, 9, of Serrano Intermediate School in her home town of El Toro both received top honors in the fourth-through sixth-grade division. From Huntington Beach, Alexis Maron, 9, of the Carden School of Fountain Valley won third place.
Honorable mention winners include 13-year-old David Arambula from Santa Ana, an eighth-grader at Spurgeon Intermediate School; El Toro eighth-grader Lori Jackson, 13, of Serrano Intermediate School; Garden Grove eighth-grader Loc Nong, 13, of Portola Middle School in Orange, 12th-grader Kelly Jeon, 18, of El Toro High School.
