MOORPARK : Torres Appointed to Planning Panel
- Share via
In an unusual move, the Moorpark City Council has decided to remove John Torres from his position on the Parks and Recreation Commission and appoint him to the Planning Commission.
The council took the action at its meeting last Wednesday at the urging of Councilman John Wozniak.
Torres, who has served on the parks panel for four years, told Wozniak that he was willing to continue on that board but would prefer to serve on the Planning Commission, Wozniak said.
Two weeks ago, the council voted to reappoint Torres to the Parks and Recreation Commission on the recommendation of Councilman Bernardo Perez. However, Perez was unaware of Wozniak’s nomination of Torres to the Planning Commission.
Council members were asked to submit names of people wanting to serve on commissions to Mayor Paul Lawrason, who nominated candidates. Lawrason nominated Torres for the parks commission but not for the planning board. After speaking to Wozniak, Lawrason changed his mind and nominated Torres to the Planning Commission.
