PLACENTIA — A motorcyclist fleeing police at speeds reaching 87 miles an hour was killed early Sunday when he lost control of the stolen vehicle he was riding and crashed into a curb, police said.
The victim was not immediately identified.
Placentia police said the man failed to yield the right-of-way to a police car on Van Buren Street near the intersection of Buena Vista Avenue, sparking a chase by two patrol units that wound through several miles of residential and commercial streets.
The chase ended when the rider, after running several red lights, collided with a curb on Fullerton Creek Road and was thrown from the bike, police said. He died at the scene.
