PREP SOCCER ROUNDUP : Top Two Boys’ Teams Battle to Scoreless Tie

Orange High School, the county’s top-ranked team, and second-ranked Santa Ana played to a 0-0 tie in a nonleague boys’ soccer game Thursday at Orange.
Orange (4-0-2) recorded its fifth shutout of the season. Santa Ana (3-2-2) was limited to three attempts on goal. Armando Guillen had eight saves for Santa Ana.
In nonleague girls’ soccer:
University 1, Canyon 0--Shana Novegrod scored 15 minutes into the second half to lead University (2-2-1). Orange 2, Costa Mesa 1--Laura Roundy scored in the 65th minute to break a 1-1 tie for visiting Orange (2-2-1). Jill Johnson scored for Costa Mesa. Mater Dei 2, Capistrano Valley 1--Amber Escobedo and Kim Conter scored for Mater Dei (2-1). Katella 2, Anaheim 1--Cindy LeClair and Beth Meunier scored in the second half for Katella (3-3-1).
