Marion Barry warned against the evils of drug use and proudly outlined his accomplishments as mayor during a farewell address to city workers. “We need to stop using cocaine and other illegal drugs,” said Barry, who has admitted to alcoholism and addiction to two prescription drugs as well as occasional cocaine use. “I leave here with no regrets, but joy, and relief, quite frankly, that we can move on to a new life,” the mayor said.
