Carew Missing Hall Would Be Disturbing

Regarding “Hall of Fame Vote No Popularity Contest,” (Dec. 14) the second paragraph, “ . . . there probably will be a disturbing number of reporters withholding their vote for (Rod) Carew because of what seem to be suspect reasons.”
Did Ross Newhan mean to write, “ . . . a number of disturbed reporters . . . “?
How could Carew not gain entry into the Hall of Fame on the first ballot? So he wasn’t always cordial to the media, who was? Steve Garvey, Pete Rose, blah, blah, blah.
One other statistic: Carew is ranked 14th in steals of home with 17. Consider that Lou Brock, with 938 steals, stole home only twice.
