VALLEY STREAM, N.Y. — An argument between two groups of teen-agers during an opening-night showing of “The Godfather Part III” erupted in gunfire that killed a teen-ager who was uninvolved in the dispute, police said.
Three other people were wounded.
About 700 people were packed into a suburban Long Island theater for the 10:25 p.m. showing Tuesday. The shooting broke out about an hour into the film, causing panicked patrons to run for the exits.
Detective Sgt. William Cocks said at a news conference today that two groups of teens seated in different parts of the Sunrise Cinema got into an argument that escalated into a shouting match.
