From Times Staff and Wire Reports
Montana officials approved the continued killing of bison believed to be carrying disease as they move into the state from Yellowstone National Park. The plan adopted by the state’s Department of Livestock and Department of Fish, Wildlife and Parks in Helena for the first time gives the state the option to call on federal rangers from Yellowstone to help kill sick bison outside park boundaries. The state can continue to call on hunters to help kill bison believed to be infected with brucellosis to keep them from spreading it to cattle.
