VENTURA : Bicyclist, 71, Struck by Car Still Critical

A bicyclist remained in critical condition Saturday after being hit by a car Friday on Main Street in Ventura.
Ventura resident Pasquale V. Monti, 71, was struck by a car driven by Howard Carpenter, 76, of Ojai on westbound Main Street west of Mills Road shortly after 1 p.m., police said.
Monti was taken to Ventura County Medical Center, where he underwent surgery for a head injury, a hospital spokeswoman said.
Monti remains in critical but stable condition, she said.
No alcohol was involved in the incident and the investigation is continuing, police said.
