ORANGE : School District Seeks Parent Advisers

The Orange Unified School District is seeking parents to join two advisory committees that will discuss economic and educational issues facing elementary and secondary schools.
The first sessions, scheduled for next week, will focus on school finances.
Participants will be invited to join various panels to address staff development, class size, teacher empowerment, middle-school philosophy, shared decision-making and student housing.
The district hopes to recruit two parents from each school and four at-large members from the community to participate in the bimonthly meetings, said Roger Duthoy, assistant superintendent of secondary eduction.
The representatives will be selected by schools’ parent organizations. The at-large positions, open to any district resident, will be selected by lot.
The elementary school panel will meet Monday,and the secondary school committee will meet Tuesday. Both meetings are scheduled for 7 p.m. in the district board room at 370 N. Glassell St. Call (714) 997-6100 for details.
