A woman wanted for questioning about playing her radio all night barricaded herself in her apartment in Norwalk for nearly three hours Wednesday, keeping sheriff’s deputies at bay with a shower of hot water, cans of food and other household items. Hyon Meyers, 41, was arrested after a brief struggle.
The standoff began about 8:15 a.m., when deputies were called to the apartment in the 12000 block of Imperial Highway by the woman’s landlord. Meyers had reportedly left the volume on her radio turned up and had crashed cymbals through the night. As deputies arrived, the woman hurled a hammer through a window. A SWAT team, a hostage negotiator and a psychiatric team were called to the scene before deputies stormed the apartment about 10:45 a.m.
