Kennedy High baseball Coach Manny Alvarado, one of hundreds of teachers in the L. A. Unified School District who received a layoff notice last month, has been reinstated by the district but faces reassignment.
Alvarado, 37, a district employee for five years, said he has been told that he might be teaching health next year at a school other than Kennedy.
Alvarado led the Golden Cougars to the 1989 City Section 4-A Division baseball title. Alvarado, who teaches physical education at Kennedy, said he would like to remain as coach.
