Divac Sprains Wrist, Not Expected to Be Sidelined

Laker center Vlade Divac sprained his left wrist in a fall during practice Thursday, but team officials expect him to be available to play in the opening game of the next NBA Western Conference semifinal series. That series could begin as early as Sunday or as late as Tuesday against the winner of the Golden State-San Antonio series.

Divac, who fell during a team practice at the Forum, will not practice today or Saturday but plans to participate in conditioning drills and receive treatment from the team trainer. His wrist is in a splint.

Divac neutralized Hakeem Olajuwon in the team’s first-round series against the Houston Rockets, helping the Lakers to a 3-0 sweep. Divac played an average of 42 minutes a game and averaged 16 points and 10.3 rebounds in that series.
