A 24-year-old man was shot in the right leg and robbed of $230 Tuesday night on the beach just north of the U.S.-Mexico border, police said.
Carlos Enrique of Mexico said he was attacked by three men at about 6:30 p.m. He went to UC San Diego Medical Center, where he was treated and released. Police spokesman Bill Robinson said it is unclear how Enrique got to the hospital.
After Enrique arrived, hospital personnel notified the San Diego Police Department, Robinson said.
