Women’s Group Offers Scholarship

Applications are now being accepted for the Diddy H. Lammers scholarship, which is sponsored by the women’s division of the Fountain Valley Chamber of Commerce, known as Las Damas.
The assistance is awarded to a female resident of Fountain Valley, 25 years or older, for furthering her education as related to her career. In the past decade, 16 recipients have been awarded $3,250. This year’s amount has not been disclosed.
The group raises funds annually through luncheons, contributions and projects, such as the cookbooks it compiles and sells.
“We’ve had women studying everything from nursing to robotics,” said Diddy Lammers, a founder of Las Damas and namesake of the scholarship.
The deadline for submitting applications is June 11. Winners will be notified later that month. Applications are available at the Chamber of Commerce office, 10101 Slater Avenue No. 115, or call (714) 962-3453.
