Frequently Unfair
Peter Greenberg (“Frequent Fliers Are Trying to Find Some Redeeming Value,” May 5) bemoans the fact that space is often not available on certain flights for frequent fliers wishing to redeem their mileage awards. Travelers, sometimes encouraged by travel writers, have often violated the terms and conditions set forth by the airlines and transferred their mileage awards to others, including coupon brokers.
I have yet to read an article chastising anyone for their unethical behavior in this regard. The message seems abundantly clear: What is fair for the frequent flier is not necessarily fair for those who fly them.
