He Made No Fast Friends With Slow-Play Story

We want to express our outrage of Mal Florence’s column on slow play on city golf courses (May 6). My partner and I feel that if we pay $12 to play 18 holes, we have the right to stay on the course as long as we like and hold up as many people as we want. That is the joy of golf.
I remember one day, I was just about to hit my fourth putt and this marshal came over and told me to play faster. I was so mad I missed the putt and had to take a 12. Not only was our foursome angry over this intrusion, the two foursomes waiting on the tee were darn upset, too.
