THE BIG FIX
“The Big Fix” was excellent. Unfortunately, the last three words of my statement, “Traditional car-pooling just doesn’t work for some people ,” were omitted. Traditional ride sharing and traditional transit services will continue to play an important role even if ne low-cost, door-to-door transportation services are developed.
The article also fails to give Caltrans the credit it deserves for being the national leader in using new IVHS technologies to improve the costs effectiveness of public transportation systems and to to try to raise average occupancy rates for commuter vehicles from 1.12 reported for Los Angeles in the last Census.
