A 44-year-old man was found dead in his car Wednesday after the Sheriff’s Department received a tip that he had been murdered, authorities reported.
Richard John Drake’s body was discovered in his car at 1:15 a.m. on Euclid Avenue in El Cajon. Drake had been shot and stabbed, medical examiner investigator Penne Hammerstead said.
Drake had last been seen with an acquaintance, 26-year-old Kevin L. Roberts of Crest, according to Sgt. S.S. Wood. On Wednesday, Roberts was arrested on suspicion of murder when he stepped off an airplane in Eureka, in Humboldt County.
Authorities believe the slaying took place at 7 a.m. Tuesday at Drake’s residence, in the 1800 block of Granite Hills Drive. The investigation is continuing.
