California IN BRIEF : YOSEMITE NATIONAL PARK : Body of Drowned Boy, 5, Recovered

Rangers have recovered the body of a 5-year-old boy, one of three family members who drowned in Yosemite National Park during the Memorial Day weekend. A park worker saw the body of Lance Thomas Jr. of Compton about two miles below where were the family car went into the Merced River, the National Park Service reported. Lance, his 3-year-old brother, Mario, and their aunt, Elaine Watson, 41, died after their car went into the river. A sister and grandmother were rescued. The aunt’s body was found shortly after the accident; Mario’s body has not been recovered.
