OJAI : 2 Grenades Found in Vacant Dwelling

Two hand grenades were discovered in an old dwelling in the Circle H Ranch on California 33 north of Ojai, authorities said Thursday.

The property owner was looking through a building that he had not been in for a while when he found the grenades, Ventura County Sheriff’s Sgt. Carl Schoenberger said. No one is living in the building, he said.

The grenades, which were intact with their fuse mechanisms still on, were taken by the bomb squad to a containment bunker, Schoenberger said.

Authorities said they believe that the grenades were stolen from the military.
