Condom Maker Makes Label Change: The maker of Trojan brand lambskin condoms has changed its label to state that they don’t protect against sexually transmitted diseases. A federal judge ordered 360,000 packages of the condoms seized July 26 after the U.S. Attorney’s office sued New York-based Carter-Wallace Inc. Prosecutors argued that the labeling failed to make it clear that lambskin condoms don’t protect against sexually transmitted diseases. Only latex condoms are effective against disease, the Food and Drug Administration has found. The new label will read, “Highly effective against pregnancy when properly used. Not to be used for prevention of sexually transmitted diseases.”
