Patient Leaves Bed After Second Heart Transplant

PORTLAND, Ore. — A man who was given the wrong heart in a transplant operation last week and had to undergo a second transplant with a compatible heart has been allowed out of his bed, officials said. The patient, whose name is being withheld, was in serious condition but “progressing as any normal transplant patient,” a spokeswoman for Oregon Health Sciences University said Thursday.
