Former pro football star Mark Gastineau stopped Mike Acklie on a technical knockout at the end of the third round of a heavyweight at Hammond, Ind.
Fight doctor Albert Willardo stopped the scheduled four-round match before the start of the final round because of bleeding from Acklie’s right ear.
Gastineau, 34, knocked out professional wrestler Derrick Dukes in 12 seconds in his boxing debut on June 8 at Salem, Va. Acklie, of Lincoln, Neb., is 6-2-1.
