Al Unser Jr. took the lead on the seventh lap through the streets of Denver and won the CART Indy-car race there for the second year in a row.
Michael Andretti, who started from the pole, held the lead until Unser, who passed teammate Bobby Rahal on the fifth lap, slipped past on the inside of Turn 1 on the seventh of 70 laps around the 1.9-mile, 16-turn circuit. Unser then held off a mild challenge from Emerson Fittipaldi to win his first race since the Grand Prix at Long Beach, Calif., in April.
