SANTA ANA — An early morning fight in the parking lot of a 7-Eleven store ended in gunfire Thursday, leaving one man dead and his brother wounded, police said.
At about 1 a.m., a group of friends went into the store at 2745 W. McFadden Ave. to buy some beer, police said. When they returned to their car, they were confronted by another group and a fight began involving about eight people.
Police said one member of the confronting group then drew a small-caliber, semiautomatic handgun and started shooting. Vincente Santacruz, 20, of Santa Ana was struck in the upper torso and taken by a friend to Coastal Communities Hospital, where he died. His brother, Samuel Riviera Santacruz, 22, also of Santa Ana, was shot once in the toe. He was treated at the hospital and released.
No arrests have been made, police said.
