Harry Gant harassed Davey Allison for almost 40 laps before finally overtaking him with 18 laps left and pulling away to win the Miller Genuine Draft 400 at Richmond, Va. Gant, 51, won for the second week in a row, averaging 101.361 m.p.h. in his Oldsmobile Cutlass over the .750-mile D-shaped layout. He earned $63,650.
NASCAR officials may give driver Ernie Irvan a two-race suspension after a bumping incident with Cecil Eunice and an argument with Bobby Labonte at Friday night’s Autolite Platinum 200 Grand National race at Richmond.
