Mark & Brian Score: Despite some negative critical reviews, top-rated KLOS-FM disc jockeys Mark Thompson and Brian Phelps found an audience Monday night for the premiere of their new TV series on NBC. “The Adventures of Mark & Brian” finished a close second to ABC’s Dallas Cowboys-Washington Redskins football game and was the night’s highest-rated program locally, according to ratings released Tuesday by the A. C. Nielsen Co. “Mark & Brian” drew an 18.5 rating and was seen in about 900,000 households. “Monday Night Football” had a 19 rating for its final half hour, while averaging an 18.1. Nationally, “Mark & Brian” finished second in its 8:30 p.m. time slot with an 11 rating to “Major Dad’s” 13.4 on CBS, but did win in the targeted 12-49-year-old age group.
