A woman and her 8-year-old daughter were struck and critically injured by a school bus while crossing a busy intersection in East San Diego, California Highway Patrol officials said.
Deycy Hernandez, 8, was taken to Children’s Hospital and Health Center, where she was treated for a crushed right leg, fractured pelvis and abdominal injuries, said Sharon Ross, a hospital spokeswoman.
Her mother, Deycy Cummings, 30, of San Diego was treated at Mercy Hospital with a factured left thigh and pelvis. Cummings also suffered internal wounds and several cuts, said Mercy Hospital spokesman Michael Scahill.
The bus was bound for an elementary school in Clairemont when it struck Cummings and her daughter at the corner of University Avenue and 58th Street, CHP officials said.
