ANAHEIM — A man apparently shot himself to death Tuesday night on the Santa Ana Freeway after he allegedly robbed a store and led officers on a chase, police said.
The California Highway Patrol issued a SigAlert about 7:30 p.m. after police found the unidentified suspect dead on the floorboard of his pickup truck, parked on the side of the freeway north of Crescent Avenue. He was shot at least once in the head, Anaheim Police Sgt. John Quinzio said.
The man allegedly robbed a stationery store in the Anaheim Plaza shopping center, he said. Police are investigating the death, but at this time, they “believe it was a suicide,” Quinzio said.
