Auto Mechanic Dies as Car Falls on Him

A Valley Center auto mechanic was crushed to death when the car he was repairing slipped from its jack.
Jose Nunez, 42, was in his back yard working on his car about 3:30 p.m. when the jack collapsed, said Robert Engel, an investigator for the county medical examiner.
Nunez was found by his mother, Lupe Contreras, who shares the house on North Lake Wohlford Road where the accident occurred. Nunez was pronounced dead at the scene, Engel said.
Nunez had propped up his car on a single jack on a rough dirt grade, Engel said.
