USD’s McKeon Advances in Qualifying Rounds

University of San Diego sophomore Julie McKeon had two victories and advanced to the third round of qualifying Tuesday at the All-American tennis tournament in Pacific Palisades.
McKeon, a native of Northbrook, Ill., defeated Leslie O’Keefe of University of Pacific, 6-4, 6-4, in the morning and Julie Schad of Arizona State, 3-6, 6-3, retired in the afternoon.
Two of McKeon’s teammates, sophomore Laura Richards and freshman Tracy Ishii, were eliminated by UCLA players in the first round.
The USD doubles team of Tuck Kacharoen and Paula Hansen was ousted in the first round by Nina Erickson and Merete Stockman of Pepperdine, 7-5, 6-2.
WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL
UC San Diego rallied to beat host Point Loma Nazarene, 15-12, 15-13, 13-15, 15-10. UCSD, ranked No. 1 in NCAA Division III, trailed 12-7 in the first game.
SOCCER
Lynn Murray’s two goals gave San Diego State a 2-1 victory over host UC Irvine in a nonconference women’s game. Murray’s game-winner came with 4:41 left in the game. SDSU improved to 8-5-1.
Westmont defeated visiting Point Loma Nazarene, 5-1, in a Golden State Athletic Conference men’s game. PLNC dropped to 2-12, 0-4.
