Altadena : Library Funds Increase
The independent Altadena Library District last week was granted an increase in supplemental county funding for the current fiscal year, beginning in October, but future funding is in doubt.
The County Board of Supervisors raised the district’s allotment by $30,000. Altadena will receive about 36% of its projected net operating budget of $469,000.
However, the supervisors voted to set up a task force to examine ways of equalizing services in the county’s three special library districts.
Altadena District Librarian William Tema said a shift to funding according to need could result in less money for Altadena.
