Yugoslav federal army jets bombed a dozen Croatian towns, with skirmishes and explosions reported on the outskirts of Zagreb, capital of the separatist republic. Croatian defenders of the Adriatic port of Dubrovnik said they had refused an army ultimatum to surrender.
