GOLF ROUNDUP : Mallon Shoots 65 to Move Into Tie for Lead at Japan

Meg Mallon made up six strokes on Japan’s Tatsuko Ohsako with a seven-under-par 65 Saturday and tied for the lead after two rounds of an LPGA tournament at Ohtsu, Japan.
Ohsako had a 71 to remain tied for first with a 36-hole total of 141, three-under, on the 6,524-yard, par-72 Seta Golf Club course.
Pat Bradley, the LPGA’s leading money winner, was a stroke behind at 142 after shooting a 69.
The third round of the PGA-Tour approved event for golfers between the ages of 40 and 50 was rained out at Hilton Head National in Bluffton, S.C., and the 72-hole event was reduced to 54 holes.
Jim Thorpe is at 12-under-par 132 and has a three-stroke lead over Bobby Wadkins.
Englishman Paul Broadhurst beat American Jim Gallagher, 70-72, to lead Europe into the final of the Four Tours golf championship at Adelaide, Australia.
Europe ended the round-robin series with 20 points. Australia beat Japan, 8-4, to finish second with 19 points. The U.S. also had 19 points but was eliminated because it lost to Australia, 7-5, Friday.
