3rd Tropical Storm Strikes Philippines

MANILA — third tropical storm to hit the country in 10 days skirted the central Philippines and roared toward Luzon but spared another island where an estimated 6,000 people died during Tropical Storm Thelma.
The Manila weather bureau said Tropical Storm Wilda lashed the northern coast of Samar Island and was heading for Luzon’s Bicol peninsula with winds of 53 m.p.h.
There were no immediate reports of damage or casualties.
