COLLEGE ROUNDUP : SCC Men Beat Christ College Irvine for Title

Edmond Johnson scored 18 points and Mike West had 14 points and eight rebounds to lead Southern California College to a 61-53 victory over Christ College Irvine Saturday night in the Christ College tournament final.
West, the tournament MVP, made six of eight shots from the field for the Vanguards (9-1). D’Andre Brown scored 18 points to lead CCI (5-4), and Brian Hazlewood added 12 for the Eagles.
In nonconference women’s basketball:
Cal State Fullerton 74, Pepperdine 74--Claudette Jackson scored 21 points and had nine rebounds to lead the Titans (5-1) at Titan Gym.
Northern Montana 81, Southern California Christian 49--Northern Montana (9-0), the top-ranked team in NAIA Division II, opened a 44-22 halftime lead over the Vanguards (5-5) and cruised to the victory at SCC.
Chapman 87, Seattle 69--Marvette Williams made nine of 11 shots from the field and scored 24 points to lead Chapman to an 87-69 victory over Seattle at Chapman’s Hutton Center.
Christ College Irvine 82, Biola 68--Gitte Mejer scored 25 points, leading Christ College Irvine (6-2) over Biola (3-7).
UC Irvine 73, Loyola Marymount 53--Geanine Hobbs and Kathy Lizarraga each had 10 points to lead UC Irvine (3-3) past Loyola Marymount (5-2).
