HIGH SCHOOL ROUNDUP : Fick’s 36 Pace Newbury Park

Senior guard Robert Fick scored a career-high 36 points Wednesday night as Newbury Park High overcame a 14-point third-quarter deficit to defeat Camarillo, 66-60, in a Marmonte League basketball game at Newbury Park.
Fick, who is averaging only 14 points, scored 17 in the fourth quarter, including four three-point baskets in as many attempts. He was five of 12 from three-point range.
Newbury Park (6-5, 1-1 in league play), trailed, 45-31, midway through the third quarter but rallied to take its first lead at 56-55.
The lead changed hands three more times before Fick made a three-point basket with less than a minute remaining to give the Panthers a 62-60 lead.
In other boys’ games:
Royal 65, Westlake 55--Royal closed the final five minutes of the Marmonte League game with a 19-9 run that broke a 46-46 tie.
Junior Steve Hodge had game-high totals of 21 points and 14 rebounds for Royal (4-8, 1-1). Teammate Brett Osterhoudt scored 20 points and had eight rebounds. Osterhoudt also made seven of seven free throws in the fourth quarter.
Agoura 70, Channel Islands 59--Eddie Corridori scored a game-high 19 points and teammate Jeff Niemann had 18 in the Chargers’ Marmonte League victory.
Agoura (8-3, 1-1) trailed, 45-44, after three quarters but outscored the visiting Raiders, 26-14, in the final period for the victory.
Dewaun Nunnery scored 16 for Channel Islands.
Bell-Jeff 52, Burbank 44--Senior forward Brian Lee scored 22 points to lead the Guards (9-4) in a nonleague victory.
David Ranney and Peter Kim each scored 11 for Burbank.
Notre Dame 53, Chaminade 44--Monte Marcaccini scored 17 points in the Knights’ Mission League victory over Chaminade.
Richard Fei scored 12 for the Eagles.
Crespi 58, Bishop Montgomery 54--Randy Coleman scored 16 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to help the Celts (7-5, 2-0) beat visiting Bishop Montgomery (7-7, 1-1) in a Mission League game.
St. Genevieve 70, Calabasas 64 (OT)--Jon Hoffman made a shot at the buzzer to send the game into overtime, then scored four of St. Genevieve’s eight points in overtime to give the visiting Valiants the nonleague win. Hoffman finished with 19 points and Ryan McGinnis added 20 for St. Genevieve, which overcame a 16-point halftime deficit and a nine-point deficit with just over three minutes to play.
Brian Bruskrud had 17 points and Brian Schmidt added 13 for Calabasas (5-7 overall).
Buena 84, Dos Pueblos 59--Nick Houchin had 22 points, including five three-point baskets, and Doug Wilder added 21 points and 10 rebounds as visiting Buena improved to 8-4 overall and 2-0 in Channel League play. Lance Fay had 17 points and eight assists for Buena, which led, 43-25, at halftime.
Ventura 93, Oxnard 73--Randy Martinez had 27 points and 11 rebounds and Darien Roberts added 22 points as visiting Ventura improved to 11-2 overall and 2-0 in Channel League play. Brian Gellardo led Oxnard (4-8, 0-2) with 15 points.
Nordhoff 67, Carpinteria 54--Tim Sebek scored a game-high 24 points and brother Mark added 15 points and 15 rebounds in Nordhoff’s nonleague victory at Carpinteria.
Dan Paine scored 12 points and teammate Kevin Cochran had 10 for Nordhoff (8-5).
GIRLS’ BASKETBALL
Sacred Heart 45, Crescenta Valley 28--Sarah Hagman scored 18 points for host Crescenta Valley (3-7) in a nonleague game.
Glendale 41, Burroughs 29--Tracy Young scored 15 points and Jenny Dalton added 10 for host Glendale (10-6) in a nonleague game.
BOYS’ SOCCER
Burroughs 3, South Pasadena 0--Cory Huber, Luis Aguilar and Roberto Perez scored first-half goals for host Burroughs (9-2-2) in a nonleague win.
Newbury Park 1, Agoura 0--Brian Collins’ goal in sudden-death overtime gave the Panthers (7-1) a victory over the Chargers (5-3-2) in a Marmonte League opener at Agoura.
Royal 3, Camarillo 1--Ray Jaramillo, Troy Burley and Jody Riehl scored goals for host Royal (6-2-1) in a Marmonte League match. Camarillo is 3-3-5.
Notre Dame 1, Chaminade 0--Erick Bustamante scored a goal 20 minutes into the Mission League match at Chaminade. Goalkeeper Tim Lennon stopped 10 shots to record his first shutout.
Newbury Park 1, Agoura 0--Brian Collins scored with a minute to play in overtime to give Newbury Park (7-1, 1-0) a Marmonte League victory. Agoura is 5-3-3, 0-1.
GIRLS’ SOCCER
Nordhoff 4, Carpinteria 0--Eran Bower scored two goals, and Charley Bell and Mary Loyd each had one for visiting Nordhoff in a nonleague match.
Goalkeeper Dacy Franklin stopped eight shots, including a penalty shot, to record the shutout. Nordhoff is 6-1-1.
Chaminade 2, Notre Dame 0--Lea Stankevich and Rebecca Latta scored for visiting Chaminade in the Mission League match. Laura Gross assisted on both goals.
Laura Harrigan and Kathy Hallinan combined to make seven saves and record the shutout.
WRESTLING
Harvard-Westlake 48, St. Paul 19--Lance Weidner, Jamin Seid, James Lee, Brandon Klinger, Josh Rodine, Josh Minuto and Greg Brown registered pins for Harvard-Westlake (11-2 overall) in a Mission League opener at St. Paul.
