PREP NOTES

Oiler update: Huntington Beach’s basketball team, ranked fourth preseason in Orange County, has struggled to a 8-6 start with its point guard and leader, Bryan Chang, injured.
Chang, a 6-foot junior, has been bothered by tendinitis in his knee since early December. He averaged about 14 points in his first five games, but the sore knee forced him to miss most of the Ocean View Tournament of Champions, and he hasn’t suited up since the tournament ended.
Chang underwent an MRI this week, and is expected to be out at least another week.
“We’re really struggling right now,” Huntington Beach Coach Roy Miller said. “We don’t have a true point guard.”
