A Heroin Fine: Cathy Evelyn Smith, who pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter in the 1982 drug-overdose death of comedian John Belushi, has been fined $2,000 and placed on 12 months’ probation for heroin possession in Vancouver. Smith, arrested July 23 with 2 grams of heroin in her purse, was acquitted of a trafficking charge after testifying she had a serious heroin habit and intended to use the drugs.
